The 20th edition of the International Pharmacy Exhibition in Algeria (SIPHAL) closed on Saturday in Algiers, after four days of debates, exchanges and meetings bringing together all players in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sector. Held under the patronage of the Ministers of Health and of the Pharmaceutical Industry, this anniversary event confirmed its status as a national and regional benchmark in the field.
Held from 4 to 7 February at the Palais des expositions, SIPHAL 2026 brought together more than 160 exhibitors and recorded a record attendance of over 11,000 professional visitors, reflecting the growing interest in the current and future challenges of pharmacy in Algeria.
The pharmacy of tomorrow at the heart of the debates
Under the unifying theme "The pharmacy of tomorrow", this edition highlighted the major changes in the sector, including the integration of artificial intelligence, the digitalisation of practices, personalised care, social and environmental responsibility, and technological innovation.
Conferences, panels and workshops made it possible to anticipate how the pharmacist's profession will evolve and to explore the levers needed to adapt the pharmaceutical system to new health challenges.
Professional convergence and scientific progress
SIPHAL also served as a platform for the various professional bodies and supervised agencies. Common ground emerged on dispensing certain anticancer drugs in community pharmacies, a measure considered necessary to ease the burden on cancer patients and improve their treatment, according to the positions expressed by SNAPO, CNOP and FAP.
Artificial intelligence emerged as a central topic of discussion. Experts, including Farah Bouras, Dr Tadlaoui and Dr Benmerad (UNOP), highlighted its predictive role, its capacity for anticipation and its benefits in terms of speed and safer practices.
In this context, CNAS announced its intention to use AI to make the most of its extensive databases, with a view to optimising resources and improving the management of benefits.
ANPHA and SAPHO, for their part, devoted their presentations to medical devices, a field considered strategic and requiring heightened vigilance from medicine professionals.
Training to provide better care
Representatives of the faculties of pharmacy reaffirmed their commitment to updating training programmes to meet the demands of the field and to contribute to fair, efficient and sustainable health coverage that lives up to the population's expectations.
Beyond its scientific programme, SIPHAL 2026 stood out as a privileged meeting place for community and hospital pharmacists, manufacturers, experts, regulatory institutions and students — a true crossroads fostering synergies and a shared vision for the future of the pharmaceutical sector in Algeria.
A renewed commitment to the future
The closing ceremony, attended by institutional representatives, partners and exhibitors, was an opportunity to thank all participants for their loyalty and commitment throughout these twenty editions.
The organisers reaffirmed SIPHAL's mission to carry on in future editions: offering a permanent forum for reflection, training and partnership in the service of health and pharmacy in Algeria.
